     EARLY DAYS

I spent my childhood in my mother's house.
Besides my grandmother, there were four people in my mother's house - two elder brothers  and two younger sisters of my mother. When my father admitted me in Standard I, my name changed from Savarimuthu to Sabarimuthu.

I was admitted in Standard I on 1 June 1953 - about six months before the completion of five years.
I failed in  Standard III. It gave me great pain.
As I lagged behind others again, I was made to sit in the Second Standard in the morning; and in the Third Standard in the afternoon.
My teachers in the R.C. Primary School, Vellicode were: 1. Mr. Soosai Muthu (Headmaster), Mr. Maria Arulappan, Mr.Innasimuthu, Mr. C.Francis and Miss. Dhachayini Amma.
While I was studying in Standard V,  I got 48 out of 50 in Mathematics in the half-yearly examination. My teacher, Mr. C. Francis, presented me a chalk piece in the open class for this.
